TOP MAKE UP TRENDS TO ROUND OFF THIS WINTER BROUGHT TO YOU BY GOSH

Finished skin

The dewy, youthful look of skin last Spring gives way to a more matte satin finish. Although the no-make-up look is still popular, the trend now is to create a flawless finish using a powder to set your foundation. It’s the older, more sophisticated sister to the fresh-faced looks seen last season. Prepare the skin carefully using primers and light-weight foundations followed by the velvety finish of a dusting of powder.

Get this look by prepping the skin carefully using a primer such as Clarins Instant Smooth Perfecting Touch (R375), Black Up Perfect Matifying Primer (R520) or try GOSH Velvet Touch Liner Perfector(R220) or Velvet Touch Foundation Primers (R190-R220) for a flawless finish.

Then, use a light foundation that provides just enough coverage without feeling too heavy, like CK1 Colour 3 in one Liquid Makeup SPF 8 (R400), bestseller Estee Lauder Doublewear Stay-in Place Makeup SPF10 (R450) or Clinique Even better Makeup SPF 15  R375.

Finally, finish off with a light dusting of translucent powder to set the look. Try: Lancôme Poudre Majeur Excellence (R565), Revlon Photoready Powder (R259), Clinique Blended Face powder (R380) or Elizabeth Arden Ceramide Skin Smoothing Loose Powder (R290).

Futuristic Sixties

From the swinging Sixties to a more futuristic look, the eyes this season make use of graphic lines and pale lips to give an update on the iconic Twiggy look from Spring. Swoops of liner in black, or even silver, with dots on the lower lash line highlight the monochromatic feel of this trend. Think minimalist, with striking black liner to highlight, contrast and emphasise.

Eyeliners are the go-to product to get this look. Try GOSH Intense Eyeliner Pen in Black (R125) or GOSH Velvet Touch Eyeliner in Silver Screen along the lower lash line, or even Clinique Eye Defining Liquid Liner (R215) and Estee Lauder Zero-Smudge Liquid eyeliner (R325) on the upper lashes in a bold extended cat eye.

In the eyes

Metallics in gunmetal, purples and reds are dominating the colour palettes this year. It’s a strong, bold look that can still be toned down for day wear. Make sure to use an eye-shadow primer before you apply the eye-shadow to help the colour last and make your eyes pop. Try a longer-lasting product such as Revlon Colourstay 16 Hour Eyeshadow in Seductive (R185).
Shadows with a high colour pay off are perfect for this trend, giving you splashes of colour that stand out. Try Lancôme Ombre Hypnose Mono (R325) in Violine Tresor.

The eyes are heavy and dark, with reds like GOSH Mono Eyeshadow in Copper (R99). For pops of purple, try GOSH Mono Eye shadow in Purple (R99) or Clinique Chubby Stick Shadow Tint for eyes in Lavish Lilac (R230) to create a smokey, smudged look that emphasises the eyes.
