GLAMOUR AID CHARITY BENEFIT

Recently  I attended the Glamour Aid charity benefit organised by my fabulous friend Brigitte Willers.

I love supporting charities in any way possible so when I heard about this amazing benefit months ago I could not wait to attend the most glamorous charity event  at  The Bay Hotel in Camps Bay.

It was a special  3 course gourmet dinner with all my favourite friends and amazing food hosted by Cindy Nell -Roberts and Mark Bayly.  Arille Kuper then auctioned off Tarina Patel’s painting by renowned artist, Lionel Smit, was auctioned with the highest bid at R 85 000,00, followed by Arno Carsten’s painting by Richard Scott at R 80 000,00 and Nelson Mandela’s painting by Chrys Mammous at R 65 000,00. An impressive R595 000,00 was raised from the twelve paintings that were auctioned with the proceeds going to the MAD CHARITY and The Chaeli Campaign.

We listened to Arno Carstens  and a guest performance by Mike Rutherford (Genesis and Mike and the Mechanics)

All in all it was an amazing evening and I am so proud of my friend Brigitte for organising such a fabulous event! I cannot wait for next year..

With my special friend Brigitte Willers

The annual Glamour Aid Charity Dinner & Art Auction, South Africa’s most glamorous charity event, took take place on Saturday 24th August 2013 at The Bay Hotel, Camps Bay.

Guests were welcomed by South Africa’s leading electric cellist, Carol Thorns as she performed in the electrifying Cellosphere. Masters of Ceremonies for the evening included Cindy Nell-Roberts, former Miss South Africa 2002, and Mark Bayly, TV and radio presenter. Guests were treated to a 3 course dinner prepared by The Bay Hotel, champagne on arrival as well as a selection of fine wines throughout the evening.

Ariella Kuper, the auctioneer on the evening kept the audience captivated and entertained throughout the art auction. From the gallery, Tarina Patel’s painting by renowned artist, Lionel Smit, was auctioned with the highest bid at R 85 000,00, followed by Arno Carsten’s painting by Richard Scott at R 80 000,00 and Nelson Mandela’s painting by Chrys Mammous at R 65 000,00. An impressive R595 000,00 was raised from the twelve paintings that were auctioned with the proceeds going to the MAD Charity and The Chaeli Campaign.

With an impressive turn-out from Cape Town’s high-society, guests included Tarina Patel, Natalie Becker, Tammy-Anne Fortuin, Arno Carstens, Cindy Nell Roberts, Mark Bayly and Mike Rutherford (Mike & The Mechanics). South Africa’s well-known Arno Carstens entertained guests at the end of the evening.

The celebrities that participated in this year’s Glamour Aid initiative will be photographed to be part of an elegant coffee-table book to be released later this year.

“So many people have put heart and soul into the project and it definitely paid off in the end.  I don’t think there is one single person that can be pointed out because every ones contributions and effort is what made this year’s event a great success.  It is heartwarming to know that there are so many kind souls in the world.  I feel really blessed and am already looking forward to the next one!” Brigitte Willers, Founder of Glamour Aid.
