When I was younger my concerns were always a few break outs during that time of month and maintaining my combination skin, now its dehydration and premature aging lol how things change. So when the lovely peeps from Sorbet Pinehurst invited me to try out the new Dermalogica Ion Active power treatment facial I was thrilled!
I have been to the Sorbet branch at Cape Gate and they are so nice and I am happy to say the ladies from Sorbet Pinehurst are just as nice too 🙂
My therapist Kayla was very knowledgeable, she explained every step and every product in detail and like a true therapist made me feel super relaxed.
So what is the new Ion Active treatment exactly….?
The Dermalogica IonActive System and IonActive Power Treatment is a 45-minute skin treatment that treats all skin ailments like acne, dehydration, hyperpigmentation and skin aging, and offers multiple opportunities for treatment personalization.
Kayla did a face mapping skin consultation where it was obvious my skin is dehydrated so she accustomed my treatment according to that.
Available concentrates for the skin are…
- Retinol to firm and reduce visible signs of skin aging.
- Niacinamide to control and prevent adult acne breakouts.
- Hyaluronic Acid to relieve dehydrated and/or sensitized skin.
- Oligopeptide to brighten hyperpigmentation for a more balanced skin tone.
After these actives are applied to the skin, they become “supercharged” with thermal activity, I felt my skin heating up but it was not uncomfortable at all, it felt soothing and Kayla gave me a nice facial massage while the product got to work on my skin.
I love that this technology drives ingredients faster into your skin. Hence its called a 45 minuter power treatment. The technology they use can range from Galvanic or High Frequency modalities to Ultrasound and LED (Light-Emitting Diode) Therapy, depending on what your skin needs.
All in all it was very relaxing treatment, my skin felt super smoothand looked brighter. My “lines”looked less visible especially around my eyes and my skin felt moist.
The following day I put on some base and my skin was flaking a bit but I know that its perfectly normal for this kind of treatment, because the products are so active and remove a layer of skin.
