Hi its Steph here, just before the holidays I got some beach wear inspiration as I attended the Beach & Beyond Joburg pop up store in Parkhurst. They opened the doors of their first store in the Lifestyle Centre in Ballito in September 2011 stocking the widest selection of designer swimwear and beachwear in South Africa and soon Gateway opened in September 2012.
Owner, Jenny Smart, was on hand and when I asked her how she got into swimwear and how she manages to source such gorgeous prints and quality she let me in on her background, ” I worked for 12 years in London as a swimwear buyer and designer, returning to South Africa I saw a big gap in the market for gorgeous swimwear that was superior quality to that of the mass produced items we are used to seeing here.” Jenny sources exclusive brands and at times she goes as far afield as Peru, Columbia, Italy and Australia to find the best.
My favourite brands that I saw were Hipanema (loved the beaded and braided details) and the prints from Maaji were so cute (tea pot print was perfect for a tea addict like me) and loved that they were also reversible – two for the prince of one!
Beach and Beyond also stock beachwear accessories to make your swimwear outfit pop, including the most gorgeous Hipanema stack style bracelets (on my wish list for 2014!), cobra inspired sandals and quick throw on dresses and kaftans.
Those based outside of the KZN region need not fret, Beach & Beyond have just launched their online store so now you can have these beauties delivered straight to your door! Also keep an eye on their Facebook page for latest arrivals and updates.
So for all those who have made the New Years resolutions to get beach ready bodies, I suggest you buy yourself one of these gorgeous items for a little extra motivation!

All these beachy pieces are so gorgeous. These really make me want it to be summer so I can just relax in my bikini.
So gorgeous, wish it was summer already
