PULSE DERMATOLOGY AND LASER REVIEW

Recently I got to try out PULSE DERMATOLOGY AND LASER, I met Amy Bowie the owner of PULSE who did a consultation after which she advised we do a combination of treatments to suit my skin concerns, the NIR skin tight facial with the LED light Therapy.

Amy who spent  6 years in the UK, training and working along side world-renowned dermatologists  and plastic surgeons, is wonderful and makes you feel very comfortable  which is extremely important in this industry and with the likes of Kate Moss and Louise Redknapp  as her clients I knew what ever treatments we were going to be doing, I was in safe hands.

Amy first did the NIR skin tight facial I was told the treatment would be very comfortable, as the combination of an integrated chilled tip and an innovative “in-motion” treatment pattern allows for virtually pain-free, rapid treatments.

NIR is the type of light emitted during the skin tightening treatment which uses a safe infrared light that heats the skin and the tissue immediately under the skin’s surface. It felt a little weird at first but as the light started heating up it felt fine and even when it got really hot, there was no pain or discomfort at all, it felt quite nice as I could feel it working on my skin.
After the NIR laser treatment Amy did a lymphatic drainage and lifting massage using a proffesional Mesoestetics ampoule ( Vit C) to suit my skin.

After that we did LED Therapy where she combined red light- anti ageing and rejuvenating with blue light- antibacterial.  I found this treatment  very relaxing as I was told to lie under the light and rest for a few minutes while the LED worked its magic on my skin, LED Light Therapy activates skin cells with pulses of low level, non thermal light energy.

The cell converts light energy into fuel (much like photosynthesis) in turn stimulating the cells to produce proteins and lipids essential for building and repairing the skin.

After the treatment Amy applied the Mesoestetics fast skin repair anti oxidant cream and then Mesoestetics moisturising SPF.

All in all my skin felt amazing after both the treatments and it looked even better the following day. I will definitely be doing these treatments again, the results are kind of addictive in a good way because its so good for your skin  and you see results immediately 🙂

A little bit more information on the treatments
NIR LASER TREATMENT

The heat produced during the treatment stimulates the infiltration of fibroblast and the formation of new collagen, while also tightening the existing bundles of collagen and elastin in the skin. This “double” stimulation both thickens and tightens the skin, strengthening the natural “scaffold” that gives our skin structure. This not only improves the skins appearance now, but also helps to bolster the skin against future aging. The presence of healthy collagen in the dermis helps maintain the skin’s youthful resilience and texture.

The NIR treatment emits light in near infrared spectrum to provide topical heating for the purpose of elevating tissue temperature. There is no preparation other than arriving with clean skin, and during the treatment your skin temperature will be elevated to a clinically proven “set point” and then maintained at that level for a short period of time for best effect.

.

HOW OFTEN  5-6 treatments scheduled 2-3 weeks apart. Most patients experience no downtime and immediately resume their daily routine.

COST-R650 per treatment ( starts from)

WHO ITS FOR – The best candidate for NIR skin tightening is anyone that has loose, sagging skin of a mild to moderate degree and wants to tighten and re-contour the area.

CAN BE USED TO TREAT

Areas on the face (such as joweling), chin, neck, and body.

Laxity of abdominal skin post-pregnancy or post surgery.

Laxity of buttocks and knees.

Improving surface skin quality (“crepeyness”) of décolleté, arms, and thighs.

Excellent for shrinking & smoothing the appearance of stretch marks on the skin.

LED Light Therapy
Given LED photo-stimulation can provide the skin cells with the energy to heal faster and produce more collagen it makes sense that it would also be able to fix minor damage. Trials were undertaken on sun damaged, pigmented and wrinkled skin. One trial published in the highly respected journal of Cosmetic Dermatology found that a 20 minute LED treatment for 12 weeks had a positive smoothing effect in 83% of subjects and improved skin tone for an incredible 91%! Another study in the US found that it had a positive effect on crow’s feet for 81% of the test volunteers.

More research confirmed that LED could speed healing, reduce inflammation and stimulate fibroblasts and collagen production, by as much as 200% within just 24 hours of treatment

COST – R500 per treatment

If you have 2 treatments together it will be R950 per treatment- there is also an added discount for patients who purchase courses of treatment upfront.
