Hi everyone from Pam in London
Recently I was invited to a Makeup Masterclass at Charles Fox Studio’s in Covent Garden London, a small exclusive event for bloggers/vloggers and journalists organised by Nanshy Makeup Brushes and Beauty Tools. If you have never heard of Nanshy, check out their website nanshy.com, they have gorgeous brushes, all 100% synthetic, cruelty free, approved by PETA. The MUA for the day was Barrie Griffith and model was Diane Tabbers
There was a friendly greeting on arrival by the organisers and was shown into the studio, which was bright and spacious, a few of the bloggers & vloggers were already there so we had time to introduce ourselves and chat whilst waiting for the start, I was seated next to 2 lovely ladies Carly Musleh who writes the blog Beautysauce and has a You Tube channel, CarlyMusleh and Scola Dondo a fitness instructor who also is on You Tube as StawberryRipples.
Barrie started off the masterclass by showing us how to create a pin up 1950’s look using Kryolan cosmetics and of course the Nanshy brushes, he made it look so easy, as he was working the look on Dione, he was explaining step by step on what foundation he was using, how he blends everything in to create a flawless look, contouring, colours he was using for the eyes, eyeliner, lip stick & gloss. I think you will agree that the finished effect was absolutely stunning.
We then got a chance after the first presentation to try out the makeup for ourselves, it was so much fun trying them out and chatting as we tried, well almost everything out. There was a chance to speak with Barrie and I was surprised to find out that he came from my home town of Liverpool, actually he came from one of the “posh parts”, Crosby! He gave me a brief outline of his work, who he’s worked for and so on
. A chance also to speak to Dione about her work, which was very interesting, she is absolutely beautiful in make up and without.
A 1 hour break for lunch with delicious sandwiches, crisps and cake and a chance to chat more with Damien from Nanshy about the brushes and tools, the company and how it started and of course all the other bloggers.
So the 2nd look was a Studio 54 look and as before, Barrie talked us through what he was doing, what colours, etc he was using on Dione and again the finished look was stunning. Again we had a chance if we wanted to, to try and create the look ourselves or just talk about the day so far.
All too soon the day came to an end, and as a thank you we were all given a complete set of the Nanshy brushes the eye brushes, the Masterful Collection, the Gobsmack Glamorous set, Blending Sponge, brush belt as well as a selection of Kryolan makeup. I haven’t used these brushes before and having tried them, I have to say I love these brushes, they’re soft but firm and glide over your face like silk, give perfect coverage to whatever make up you use, liquid or mineral powder and so easy to clean, all you do is clean with a little shampoo or liquid soap and rinse and air dry, very little shedding either, and as there is no animal hair used in their making, they’re great for Vegans. Even if you are not a professional MUA, at least try one of the sets for your own use, I guarantee you will be impressed.
