The International Fashion

Sale joins forces with

the Princess Project

Joburg’s much loved expo, the International Fashion Sale (IFS), has joined forces with ex Miss South Africa and Top Billing presenter Jo-Ann Strauss to further drive her charity, the Princess Project.

The project was founded by Jo-Ann in order to give under-privileged girl matriculates the opportunity to look fabulous at their matric farewell dance. Jo-Ann, who herself wore a second hand dress to her farewell says, “It just made sense to me. I had so many dresses in my wardrobe that I couldn’t wear again in the public eye and they were cluttering my wardrobe.

I couldn’t think of a better way of putting them to good use than to give them to girls who would normally never get an opportunity to wear such amazing dresses for their matric farewell.”

The project welcomes all formal dresses from the public and many celebrities have joined the campaign like Michelle McLean, Louise Carver, and Uyanda Mbuli. Even international supermodel Naomi Campbell has pledged a dress after working with Jo-Ann in Barcelona for “Frock ‘n Roll”.

When the IFS heard of her project they immediately recognised the synergy between the two and set about forming the partnership. The IFS has been around for 14 years and hundreds of thousands of visitors have enjoyed filling their wardrobes with designer gear for next to nothing so to have the platform to get designer dresses on deserving girls for absolutely nothing was a great opportunity to give something back.

The IFS is happening at the Coca-Cola dome from the 29th July to 1st August between 10am and 10pm and there will be a stand dedicated to the collection of dresses. So make space in your wardrobe and feel good about where your dresses have gone – there are plenty of designer bargains at the IFS to replace them!

I hope everyone had a fabulous weekend! This post is long over due, but it has taken me a while to sort through all the pics and I had trouble uploading everything, so its about 2 days late.

Anyway, recently we went to 2 events in one night, they were both such fabulous events I had no choice but to go to both- well try to at least : )

I wore my over the knee boots, patterned tights with my new cardi and dress,it was the perfect outfit for the cold weather.

THE TOTALLY WIRED SUNGLASSES HUT LAUNCH

We arrived at the launch and  were given champagne while we could browse around and have a look at all the amazing sunglasses while waiting for the auction to begin.

It was the night before the launch of the world cup so we were all in high spirits! It was held at the Misael Gallery and everyone who was anyone attended all in the name of charity.

The event was to launch the TOTALLY WIRED campaign and hosted the design collaboration between Sunglass Hut, Streetwires and The Indalo Design Project whereby nine unique sunglass creations were auctioned off with all the proceeds going to The One Sight Foundation.

The TOTALLY WIRED campaign launched at Sunglass Hut stores nationwide on Friday 11 June. In celebration of the 2010 World Cup, they created 1000 wire art wayfarers that will be sold for R150, with all profits going to The One Sight Foundation. The sunglasses are beaded in the colors of key countries flags and add a unique, artistic flavor to all the usual football paraphernalia.

Talya, Niki and myself

We were entertained by comedian Nik Rabinowitz before Andrew Koch from Claremart Auctioneers got the bidding going.

The pieces, each inspired by elements unique to South Africa, fetched between R1000 and R4000 with TOTALLY VUVUZELA, designed by Nicki Dzrewicki and crafted by Streetwires, being sold for R5500.

Other unique items were TOTALLY Ready for the Game, TOTALLY Beloved, TOTALLY Biker Bokkie and TOTALLY Feathered.

The TOTALLY WIRED Design Collection was auctioned and R20 100 wasraised for The OneSight Foundation who gives eye care to the underprivileged around the world.

Afternoon bliss……..

June 29th, 2010

I have been looking for a really long scarf, but have found nothing as yet, so I decided to improvise and buy 2 scarves and attach them together which has been the perfect soloution.

I wore my blue satin jumpsuit with a striped top top over it to give the illusion of silk shorts.

This is my favourite thing to do on lazy afternoon after lunch or shopping, sit in my favourite  chair  at home with a take away latte and catch up on all my magazines.

Outfit- blue satin jumpsuit- Foschini, striped top- random boutique, navy cardigan- random boutique,  scarf- DIY, grey over the knee socks, Foschini, Boots, Foschini

Thank you to the lovely Michele  from become.com for the fabulous feature-  you can read it HERE

As you all know I love versatile items, I love accessories and I love decor too. Now that we are moving into a different place I want to kind of re-do the decor slightly, add a bit more colour and give it a art deco feel.

I found all of that and more at this fabulous site the Muranoglassgifts.com

“Maruno makes gorgeous necklaces like the Maruno glass heart pendant and bracelets like the Maruno bracelet

You can style the jewelry with a plain top, a scarf and combine textures or add to other jewelry to make a unique look.

I have yet to admit this but since our collection of glasses are growing I think its safe to say that I  now  collect wine and martini glasses and of course I am a huge fan vases, there always has to be fresh roses in the lounge.

Here are some of my favourite items, the flamingo martini glasses would go perfectly on our glass top bar.

The Maruno glass vase will be perfect on  my coffee table amongst fashion books and roses.

Have a look at their website  HERE and be inspired.

Once we have moved into our flat and all the redecorating is done I will share LOTS of pictures : )

Recently I got to attend the Press stick Spring/summer Media day, it was fabulous!

I decided to wear my new kaki cardigan with my tan faux leather jacket and stripes and later that day while taking outfit pics I added my  studded gloves due to the rainy weather.
