Saturdays are bliss!

April 10th, 2010

Perfect Saturday- spent the morning at my usual day SPA Mija Vie, got to meet my new hairdresser Wessel as my hairdresser Corlene owns the SPA and has decided to stop doing hair and concentrate on the SPA instead.

Wessel who has taken over from her is brilliant, has a few celeb clients and above all he knows how I like my hair styled : ) So I spent the morning catching up with Corlene over lots of coffee and fashion magazines!

My new bag that I got at the rarely worn sale!

I am so addicted to the Lindt choccies you get with every Vida E cup!

After that we spent the rest of the day browsing clothing and decor stores at Willowbridge and ending it off with a couple of Vida E coffees- Bliss!

Grey cardi and black circle scarf- Foschini, nautical stripe top- random boutique, shorts- Sissy Boy, lace leggings and over the knee boots- AWOL

Hope everyone has a good weekend and dont forget to read my post below about this fabulous new boutique!

36 Boutiques

I decided this year that I was going to change my shopping strategy a bit, I realised after going through my closet room that I have soo many clothes I wear but there are a lot that I get bored off and then do not land up wearing again.

Hence I land up with too much stuff, not enough days to wear everything and my really neat and organised closet room lands up looking  a complete mess in 5 seconds!

I decided  I would have to go back to my old strategy of shopping:

Vintage is best and quality versus quantity!

So when I heard about the 36 Boutiques I was beyond happy! I support any boutique where you can buy luxury items and you dont run the risk of running into some one who has the same dress or top as you. The designers they have are amazing, so of course thats where quality versus quantity comes into play. It is supposed to be a secret boutique but of course I am going to share the news with all of you, the only thing is that its for South African readers only, sorry to all my Fashionistas overseas : (

To all the SA Fashionistas you can sign up here for their next sale on Monday!

I missed their first sale, but I had the privilege of interviewing the fabulous Nicky Boy who started the boutique, so everyone can read what 36 Boutiques is all about and why you have to sign up, I have : )

1. How did you come up with the idea of 36 boutiques?

We believe there is a gap in the market for a great online clothing offer in South Africa. So we chose to use the private event retailing model. It has gained a huge following worldwide and complements and supports local designers and retailers.

2. What makes 36 boutiques stand out from other online boutiques?

We believe that the offer to customers is unique – the world class experience, hand-selected luxury fashion items, deep relationships with our brand partners and a passion for the local fashion industry. We also encourage similar offers in South Africa, as the more ecommerce grows, the better we all do.

3. Which designer labels do you stock?

We have approached selected designers and they’ve all been very receptive. We’ve chosen some of the most exclusive brands and we’ve signed up very key and significant brand partners such as Stefania Morland, Ben Sherman(12 April), Hermanna Rush, Jingle&Chimes(19 April), 7 for All Mankind(10 May), Cossabella (17 May) and Melissa(24 May).

4. So for all my South African readers, how does 36 Boutiques work and how can they be part of it?

36boutiques is an online designer boutique sale platform. South Africans can go sign up at www.36boutiques.com <http://www.36boutiques.com> and within 24hours they will be accepted as an exclusive member. Customers will then be emailed before the beginning of a sale event, to announce which retail store or designer will be on sale that week.

The sale will start at noon on a Monday and customers will have 36-48 hours to buy luxury items, after which the sale is closed and items are packed for free delivery to customers(free delivery for purchases over R1000, otherwise a R50 charge applies). A purchase is normally delivered within a couple of days and thereafter the customer has 7 days to return the item if they are not satisfied. It is important to remember that membership is free but by invitation only. 36boutiques members can earn R50 credit when friends that they introduce to the concept make their first purchase in 36boutiques.com.

We believe that our offering is so compelling that customers will naturally invite their friends to share their designer shopping secret, but we feel that it is important to reward people for introducing us into their social circles

A special thank you to Tarryn for providing the pictures.

Recently we went to Jordon Wine Farm for a Sunday lunch, I decided to take a few outfit pictures before we ate.

It was quite chilly when we arrived so I wore my coat, scarf and my gloves.

We sat under the trees next to the lake and had the most divine lunch, enjoyed a chilled bottle of chenin blanc while waiting for our lunch

Wild Oysters

Mike and my dad had beef and springbok

My mom and I had grilled salmon and green beans

Granadilla Meringue

Cheese platter- we had a variety of cheeses to choose from for dessert

Cafe lates after lunch

The view from where we sat

It became unexpectantly warm later that day, so while having my main meal and dessert I wrapped my skull scarf around my shoulders.

My Easter weekend was a surprisingly very chilled one for a change,we had lots of things planned but at the last minute decided to cancel everything, take advantage of the long weekend and relax.

Ate lots of Lindt bunnies

Drank chamapgne and painted my nails a colour I am growing to love

Caught up on all my magazine reading

Watched half of my boyfs DVD collection

Snuggled under our new faux fur throws on the couch and bed

Had lots of  hot chocolate, popcorn,Vida E coffee ,hot cross buns and tried my hand at cooking a few meals  : )

I finally got around to doing some DIY decor and clothing projects as well as re-organising our place ( pictures and updates soon : ) )

Best of all I slept late every morning, went for afternoon walks and spent time with family.

I feel rejuvinated and relaxed, the best Easter by far!

Happy Easter!

Over the knees @ Adega

March 30th, 2010

Recently we went to Adega for my moms birthday, it was really nice, we enjoyed a evening of oysters, sushi and really good Merlot.

I wore my new obsession(over the knee anything) and I paired it with my favourite faux leather biker jacket.

I love it for the very reason that I can button it up in the front and wear it differently each time.

The wine glasses are huge!!!

Its official I am addicted to sushi!
